The tips I am providing here are particularly for the time when you will be breaking your fast.
1) Start with eating 3 dates
Apart from being the Sunnah, dates are extremely healthy because it provides your body with enough energy that helps to digest the food that you binge at the time of breaking your fast. Also, by eating 3 dates you will be able to satisfy your hunger.

2) Drink a big glass of water
While eating the dates, sip from a big glass of water because your body needs to be hydrated in order for your body’s metabolism to work well.

3) Start with non-fried stuffs
As much as you will feel like getting your hands on all the delicious deep fried food, you need to control yourself. Start with eating the non-fried stuffs by telling yourself, ‘I will eat the fried food but first let me eat this.’ Keep the fried food to be eaten at the last this way you will already be full and won’t be able to eat a lot. |
4) Eat fruits over desserts
Stock your fridge with your favourite fruits. Keep them at your reach at the time of Magrib. Eat them instead of desserts.

5) Drink green tea after breaking your fast
Green tea will help digest the food and will also boost your metabolism in order to burn more calories.

6) Be mindful of your body
Stay aware of how your body feels. Your body will signal you that it is full and doesn’t needs to be fed with anything more.

7) Practise controlling your urges
You will only succeed with these tricks if you’d practise controlling your urges every day. Each time you will sit to break your fast, you will feel like getting your hands on all the deep fried stuffs. The only way to work on resisting that is to practise it daily.

Note: I am following these techniques in combination with daily cardio workout. Do check out my Instagram for details of a Ramadan workout e-book for free. Along with exercise, my suhoor comprises of Ispaghol (Google it to know more), oats/cornflakes, yoghurt drink, dates, sometime cheese toast and eggs. Also, I try to drink at least 1.5 litre of water from Magrib till before Fajr adhan.
