Start with drinking water
Sometimes our thirst is disguised as hunger. So when you feel hungry more than usual start with drinking water. This is one of the most effective ways through which I get rid of unwanted cravings. It works most of the time. I sit with a small bottle of water and keep taking sips of it and after a while I stop feeling hungry.
Another of my most effective tricks to deal with cravings is to eat something that is healthy and will not make me fat. I eat roasted chick peas, boiled corn, sweet corns, popcorn and raisins. The list of healthy snacking is vast and you will sure find something that suits you the most.
In addition to that, you can also chew gum for a little while. This will eventually make you thirsty and by drinking water you will start feeling full.
According to my experience tea or coffee is an effective trick to kill unwanted cravings. The caffeine in tea and coffee suppresses your appetite for a little while. You can even try cinnamon tea, cardamom tea or green tea.
I have realized that whenever I know there is something yummy waiting behind that cabinet door I kind of crave to eat it. So recently I have learnt to stop purchasing junk foods like chips or chocolates in bulk. This way when I know that there is nothing delicious and crunchy to eat I don’t think about it and eventually don’t crave to eat it.
We all have hobbies right! I love reading books, writing and or watching something interesting. When we are engrossed in something that we enjoy we don’t become very conscious of our hunger. In fact sometimes these cravings happen because more or less we are feeling bored and have nothing better to do. You can do anything that you enjoy, artwork, socializing or maybe a walk in the park.
It’s 2 A.M at night and you are surfing through your Instagram newsfeed. You come across a delicious picture of Penne Pasta and boom! You start feeling hungry. This might not happen every time but I have seen some people who like so many food pages on their social network accounts that their newsfeed is filled with tons of food pictures. It will of course make them crave for food even if they have already had an eight course meal.
In the end, I’d say that you can only work on your unwanted food cravings and apply these effective tricks if you are determined to do so. So beat the cravings with these 6 effective tricks and don’t forget to write to me with how you felt.
