Hence you should be mindful of what you are eating. Instead of worrying about submitting your next assignment, focus on the taste of the food, its flavours, the intensity of each flavour; salt, pepper, red chilli and so on. Once you start eating your food mindfully you will feel the difference it will bring to your usual routine.
I have been trying to do mindful eating since I have learnt about it and here are a few benefits I have come across that I’d like to share with my readers.
You get to enjoy the food
If you have been blessed with food to eat then you ought to enjoy and appreciate your fate. Eating shouldn’t just satisfy your stomach but also your tongue, mind and your soul. The best way to do that is to eat with concentration. Feel every little taste that bite of food gives to your tongue.
It is another reason to relax
Once you start to focus on the food’s taste your mind will stop thinking about every other thing that is bothering you. It is one of the good ways to relax and calm your mind.
It helps to freshen up
What happens after you have had a relaxing experience? Of course you feel fresh and rejuvenated. The similar effect you will have after eating mindfully.
No unnecessary weight gain
Yes, mindful eating really helps to not gain unnecessary weight. Firstly, you will know when to stop so you won’t eat excessively. Next, when you focus on the food’s taste your eating speed will automatically slow down thus giving more time to your digestive system to digest the food. Eating slowly and mindfully will satisfy you so you won’t ask for more servings at a time. This also applies to junk food. Even a small packet of chips if eaten mindfully leaves you satisfied and you don’t look for more chips.
I really hope these few benefits inspire you to eat mindfully. It is not going to happen all at once but it is a habit you ought to work on. Also, don’t forget to write to me on my Facebook page about how you felt after eating mindfully.
