It has been 6 years since I left UAE but the love for it is still fresh in my heart and soul. Anything and everything related to UAE still excites me and I can’t wait for the moment when I will be finally back in that country either to reside or just a simple visit.
When someone asks me the reason why I love UAE so much, I don’t have just one simple answer but a whole long list ready to be expressed. But of course that just bores the other person so why don’t I take advantage of my blog to express my love for UAE and the reasons that it will also have a special place in my heart.
Dubai is my birth place
Even though I haven’t been given UAE’s nationality, I was technically born there. So how can I not love my birth place? The place holds so many special memories for me.
The most crucial years of my life were spent in UAE
I started with school in Sharjah. I learnt the most important lessons of my life being a part of UAE Scouts and Guides. My teen years were spent in UAE as well. The picnics I went to, the activities I took part in and the friends I made there will always hold a special meaning in my heart.
My most favourite events took place in UAE
Dubai Shopping Festival
Young Entrepreneurs Competition 2010
2nd December – UAE National Day
School Sports Day
School Graduation Lunch
School Graduation
Scouts and Guides Camping
I love the different cultures found in UAE
At school we were 52 Nationalities and that is enough to make anyone feel that how much fun it was to be among people with different backgrounds. It was another life learning experience for me to accept people without getting too judgemental.
Shawarma was always under my reach
I have tried shawarma here in Karachi from most of the places but no place can ever take the delicious taste of shawarma that I got from the Lebanese restaurants in UAE. Plus, they came with a reasonable price tag and were always under our reach. Simply walk on any street and you will at least find one restaurant selling shawarma and this was the best part.
Travelling from one city to another only took a couple of hours
Be it a sudden plan or one already been planned weeks ago, getting to another city just took a couple of hours. The long road trip will be enough to rejuvenate us while not too long that we will get tired.
The neighbours were extra caring
Say whatever but it didn’t matter what country we came from or what religion we belonged to, when asked to take care of kids or look after our home they did it whole heartedly. Also, any day we fell sick and there were our neighbours right at our door step with a cooked meal. I have not yet found a caring neighbour as such in my neighbourhood here in Karachi.
There are so many more reasons to write here but since I am running out of time...I will be continuing with the rest of the reasons next week. Till then enjoy and live life to the fullest!
